Multi-Location Automotive General Manager

Automotive Repair Operations | Portland Metro Area

We are looking for an experienced Multi-Location Automotive General Manager to lead and grow our group of independent auto repair shops.

This is not a single-store manager position.

We are looking for a proven automotive leader who has successfully managed multiple auto repair locations for at least 5 years, developed managers, owned financial results, built strong teams, and improved profitability across an organization.

Our General Manager will work directly with ownership to turn the company's vision into execution across every location.

YOU MUST HAVE

Please apply only if you meet these minimum qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience as a General Manager, Director of Operations, Regional Manager, or equivalent overseeing multiple automotive repair locations
  • Proven experience managing multiple store managers
  • Strong automotive repair industry experience
  • Proven responsibility for P&L and store profitability
  • Experience coaching and holding managers accountable to measurable goals
  • Experience recruiting, hiring, developing, disciplining, and terminating employees
  • Strong understanding of automotive shop KPIs
  • Experience creating and improving operational systems
  • Ability to lead company-wide meetings and communicate vision clearly
  • Strong financial, sales, operational, and leadership skills

EOS / Traction experience is strongly preferred.

You should understand how to operate using:

  • Weekly Level 10 Meetings
  • Scorecards
  • Rocks
  • Accountability Charts
  • Issues Lists
  • Measurables
  • Quarterly planning
  • Leadership accountability

WHAT YOU WILL OWNMulti-Store Leadership

You will lead the overall performance of our repair locations and directly coach each location's manager.

Your job is to make our managers better leaders — not to manage every employee yourself.

You will:

  • Coach store managers
  • Establish clear expectations
  • Review weekly performance
  • Identify underperformance early
  • Build accountability
  • Develop future leaders
  • Ensure company standards are followed across every location

Financial Performance

You will be responsible for helping each location achieve its financial goals.

This includes managing and improving:

  • Revenue
  • Gross profit
  • Labor gross profit
  • Parts gross profit
  • Effective labor rate
  • Average repair order
  • Hours per repair order
  • Close ratio
  • Car count
  • Technician productivity
  • Payroll percentage
  • Operating expenses
  • Net operating profit

You should be comfortable reading and managing from:

  • P&Ls
  • Balance sheets
  • Budgets
  • Forecasts
  • Weekly scorecards
  • Monthly financial reports

We expect our General Manager to understand why numbers are changing and what actions need to happen next.

Hiring & Team Development

You will oversee hiring and staffing across the organization.

Responsibilities include:

  • Recruiting key positions
  • Interviewing management-level candidates
  • Supporting managers with technician and advisor hiring
  • Improving hiring systems
  • Building onboarding processes
  • Coaching struggling employees
  • Creating performance improvement plans
  • Making difficult personnel decisions when necessary
  • Maintaining staffing levels that support company growth

Our goal is to build a company where great people want to stay and grow.

Sales & Customer Experience

You will work with our managers and advisors to continually improve the customer experience and sales process.

You will help improve:

  • Advisor performance
  • Inspection presentation
  • Follow-up systems
  • Declined work follow-up
  • Customer retention
  • Reviews and reputation
  • Sales training
  • Closing percentage
  • Average repair order
  • Customer communication

Our sales philosophy is based on education, transparency, trust, and long-term relationships — not high-pressure selling.

Systems & Operational Improvement

We want a leader who constantly asks:

"How can we make this company operate better?"

You will identify weaknesses in our systems and work with ownership and managers to improve them.

This may include:

  • Workflow
  • Dispatch
  • Inspections
  • Quality control
  • Customer follow-up
  • Hiring
  • Training
  • Inventory
  • Purchasing
  • Shop management software
  • Communication
  • Accountability
  • Reporting
  • Standard operating procedures

The goal is to create systems that allow the company to grow without creating chaos.

EOS Leadership

Our General Manager will help drive the company through the EOS operating system.

You will help maintain discipline around:

  • Weekly leadership meetings
  • Department scorecards
  • Rocks
  • Issues
  • Accountability
  • Quarterly priorities
  • Annual goals
  • Company vision

You must be comfortable holding leaders accountable — including having difficult conversations when expectations are not being met.

Vision & Culture

Ownership will establish the long-term vision of the company.

Your responsibility will be helping turn that vision into reality.

You will communicate the vision to managers and team members so employees understand:

  • Where the company is going
  • Why we are going there
  • What their role is
  • What success looks like
  • What is expected of them

We value:

Teamwork
Respect
Honesty
Positivity
Continuous Learning
Ownership & Accountability

We are looking for a leader who demonstrates these values consistently.

MARKETING & GROWTH

You will work with ownership and our marketing partners to evaluate marketing performance and help develop strategies for sustainable growth.

This includes understanding:

  • Marketing budgets
  • Lead generation
  • Customer acquisition
  • Customer retention
  • Car count
  • Promotions
  • Community marketing
  • Digital marketing performance
  • Return on marketing investment

You do not need to personally execute every marketing campaign, but you must understand how marketing connects to store capacity, revenue, and profitability.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

A successful General Manager will:

  • Build strong, accountable store managers
  • Achieve company and store financial goals
  • Increase profitability
  • Improve operational consistency
  • Improve employee retention
  • Recruit strong team members
  • Strengthen company culture
  • Improve customer experience
  • Develop repeatable systems
  • Keep leadership focused on company priorities
  • Successfully implement EOS throughout the organization
  • Help ownership spend more time working on the business instead of inside every store

THE PERSON WE ARE LOOKING FOR

You are probably a strong fit if you:

  • Love developing leaders
  • Hold people accountable without avoiding difficult conversations
  • Understand automotive repair operations deeply
  • Make decisions based on numbers
  • Can see both the big picture and operational details
  • Know how to create structure
  • Communicate clearly
  • Take ownership when something goes wrong

  • Want to help build something significantly larger than a single repair shop
