Overview
The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of freight logistics, including booking loads, coordinating with shippers, managing driver schedules, and ensuring timely delivery of goods. This role also handles all related administrative duties such as processing invoices, maintaining transportation records, and communicating effectively with customers, carriers, and internal departments to ensure smooth operations. This position pays hourly plus monthly commissions!
What you’ll do
- Coordinate and oversee the flow of goods from suppliers to customers, ensuring timely delivery and accuracy in shipments.
- Manage warehouse operations, including inventory management, stocking, and shipping & receiving processes.
- Utilize data analysis skills to monitor logistics performance metrics and identify areas for process improvement.
- Engage in purchasing activities, negotiating contracts with suppliers to optimize costs while maintaining quality standards.
- Implement transportation planning strategies that ensure efficient freight movement and compliance with regulations.
- Collaborate with third-party logistics (3PL) providers to streamline operations and enhance service delivery.
- Conduct root cause analysis for any logistical issues that arise, developing actionable solutions to prevent recurrence.
- Leverage technology such as Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems for effective logistics management.
Basic qualifications
- Book and schedule freight loads with shippers and carriers.
- Coordinate daily driver schedules, ensuring efficient routing and on-time deliveries.
- Serve as the main point of contact between drivers, shippers, and customers.
- Track shipments and provide updates on delivery status.
- Maintain accurate load documentation and verify delivery receipts.
- Submit and process invoices for completed loads to ensure timely payment.
- Resolve delivery issues, delays, or discrepancies quickly and professionally.
- Ensure compliance with all transportation and safety regulations.
- Maintain relationships with carriers, brokers, and clients to maximize efficiency and profitability.
- Generate reports on load activity, performance, and cost analysis as needed.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience in logistics, dispatching, or freight coordination.
- Strong understanding of transportation management and carrier operations.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in logistics software, load boards, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to multitask and perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail-oriented with strong recordkeeping and invoicing accuracy.
