Duties
- Manage the entire parts department, including inventory control, procurement, and warehousing to maximize efficiency and reduce costs.
- Develop strong relationships with suppliers and OEM vendors to negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules that benefit the dealership.
- Oversee order management systems and ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) platforms to ensure accurate data entry, order processing, and stock replenishment.
- Coordinate logistics for shipping & receiving, warehouse management, and distribution to maintain optimal stock levels.
- Implement demand planning strategies based on dealership service schedules, customer needs, and manufacturing forecasts.
- Utilize automotive diagnostics knowledge to identify parts requirements for repairs and maintenance accurately.
- Supervise warehouse operations including forklift operation, equipment repair, and inventory audits to ensure safety and compliance.
- Collaborate with automotive service teams to support auto body repair projects and ensure the availability of necessary parts.
- Maintain detailed records of procurement activities using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) or AS400 systems.
- Lead sourcing initiatives for hard-to-find OEM parts while ensuring adherence to quality standards.
Skills
- Extensive experience in supply chain management within an automotive dealership environment.
- Proven ability in supplier management, negotiation, and procurement management.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of automotive systems, HVAC units, auto body repair processes, and automotive diagnostics.
- Proficiency with inventory management software, ERP systems like AS400 or similar platforms, and order management systems.
- Skilled in warehouse management practices including shipping & receiving procedures and warehouse experience.
- Knowledge of demand planning techniques tailored for automotive service needs.
- Ability to operate forklifts safely; certification preferred.
- Familiarity with CMMS tools for maintenance tracking; experience with equipment repair is a plus.
- Excellent customer service skills to support dealership clients and internal teams effectively.
- Strong negotiation skills combined with a strategic sourcing mindset to optimize costs without compromising quality.
