Job Summary
The Autism Society of South Carolina is seeking a Parent Mentor, to support families, caregivers, and schools in navigating the educational system for students with autism. This role helps empower parents, promotes evidence-based practices, and strengthens school-family partnerships.
Key Responsibilities:
- Attend IEP(virtually) and school-based meetings to support families and staff
- Provide information on autism, interventions, and advocacy strategies, attend occasionally outreach events
- Maintain program records and assist with outreach in assigned areas
- Stay current on best educational practices through training and research
Qualifications:
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Knowledge of special education and service delivery systems
- Experience advocating children with autism
- Computer literacy (Microsoft, databases, virtual platforms)
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- College graduate
Status:
Part-time or full-time, hourly, non-exempt.
