What are the responsibilities and job description for the Direct Support Professional (DSP) position at Autism Community Services?
Available shifts:
Tuesday & Sunday 5am-2pm
We are seeking a DSP to work with a male client who has frequent seizures. Staff must be comfortable administering medication.
Duties:
-Provide direct care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities
- Assist with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication administration
- Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive behaviors and reduce challenging behaviors
- Support individual in developing and maintaining social skills and relationships
- Ensure the rights and dignity of individuals are respected and upheld
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or certification in a related field is a plus
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or mental health challenges preferred
- Must have knowledge of autism spectrum disorder and be comfortable with applying behavior support (managing aggression/self-injury, elopement)
- Ability to drive and possess a valid driver's license
- First aid and CPR certification is a plus
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
