Job Overview
The Electrical Engineering Technician supports AUTEC’s Engineering and R&D teams by developing CAD drawings, building and testing prototype systems, assisting with electrical troubleshooting, and providing technical support to internal teams and customers.

Key ResponsibilitiesCAD & Documentation
- Create and update electrical CAD drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Maintain clear and accurate documentation for engineering changes, prototypes, and released designs.
- Assist with BOM updates, part selections, and engineering document control.
R&D & Prototype Support
- Support R&D engineers in building, wiring, and testing prototype assemblies.
- Perform functional tests on new designs, including sensors, motors, PLC logic, and safety systems.
- Document results, identify issues, and recommend improvements.
- Assist in validating new components and technology integrations for future products.
Electrical Assembly & Testing
- Build and wire electrical panels, harnesses, enclosures, and control systems.
- Perform continuity checks, voltage verification, and system-level testing.
- Troubleshoot wiring, component failures, and control logic with guidance from senior engineers.
Technical Support (Internal & External)
- Support Service and Production teams with technical questions, wiring clarifications, and troubleshooting.
- Assist with customer-facing technical documentation, basic troubleshooting guides, and support tickets.
- Participate in occasional customer calls to help diagnose electrical or control-system issues.
Controls & Automation
- Assist with PLC programming updates, testing, and debugging under engineer supervision.
- Work with Rockwell Automation (Allen-Bradley) and Siemens platforms, including PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, and communication protocols.
- Help build and test automated sequences used in AUTEC wash systems.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles, schematics, and wiring practices aligned with NEC standards.
- Proficiency in CAD software including AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, or SolidWorks for designing and reviewing electrical layouts.
- Experience with PCB design, surface mount technology (SMT), and electronics assembly.
- Ability to perform root cause analysis and debugging of complex electrical issues.
- Hands-on experience with hand tools, soldering techniques, and equipment repair in an industrial setting.
- Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), scripting languages like Python or other automation tools.
- Mechanical knowledge related to equipment assembly and maintenance is a plus.
- Skills in project scheduling to coordinate installation or upgrade activities efficiently.
- Understanding of electrical systems within manufacturing environments including wiring practices and safety standards. This position requires a proactive individual capable of working independently or as part of a team to ensure the reliability of electrical systems across our facilities while adhering to safety protocols and industry standards.
Qualifications
- Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical, or similar).
- Strong foundational knowledge of AC/DC circuits, sensors, relays, and industrial controls.
- Hands-on ability to build and wire panels, harnesses, and electrical assemblies.
- Solid troubleshooting skills and comfort using multimeters and test equipment.
- Clear communication and willingness to support cross-functional teams.
- Familiarity with Rockwell (Allen-Bradley) and/or Siemens PLCs, HMIs, or VFDs.
- Experience with ladder logic or PLC programming coursework.
- Previous internship or hands-on experience in manufacturing, automation, or controls.
- Understanding of industrial safety standards and panel-building best practices.
