Job Summary
Austin Ryan Optika is seeking an experienced, professional and patient-focused Eyecare Advisor.
The Eyecare Advisor assists patients in selecting eyewear and educates them about lens options based on their prescription, lifestyle and individual needs. This is an educational and service-focused position, not a high-pressure sales role.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with frame selection and styling
- Educate patients about lens options and technologies
- Recommend appropriate anti-reflective, Transitions, polarized and specialty lens options
- Identify appropriate multiple-pair opportunities
- Process eyewear orders
- Explain and apply vision insurance benefits
- Collect payments and deposits
- Assist with eyewear adjustments and dispensing within the permitted scope of the position
- Follow up on patient eyewear concerns
- Maintain knowledge of frames, lenses and current optical products
- Maintain an organized and attractive optical area
- Work closely with Opticians, Optometrists and other team members
- Provide an exceptional patient experience
Qualifications
Previous optical experience is strongly preferred.
Ideal candidates should have experience with frame selection, lens recommendations, eyewear ordering and vision insurance.
New York State Optician licensure is not required.
Candidates should be professional, dependable, personable, detail-oriented and comfortable discussing premium eyewear products with patients.
Compensation
- Starting/Training: $20.00/hour
- Experienced Eyecare Advisor: $21.00–$22.00/hour
- Highly Experienced/High Performing: $23.00 /hour
Monthly Performance Bonus
- Meets Goals: $100
- Strong Performance: $200
- Exceptional Performance: $300
Bonuses are based primarily on team performance, including capture rate, anti-reflective lenses, Transitions/polarized lenses, multiple-pair eyewear, remakes and overall optical performance.
