Position Summary
AMAT Healthcare Institute is seeking a knowledgeable and motivated Ultrasound Instructor to join our Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) program.
The Ultrasound Instructor will provide classroom and hands-on laboratory instruction to students preparing for careers in diagnostic medical sonography. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical experience, excellent scanning skills, and the ability to effectively teach and demonstrate sonographic concepts and procedures in a supportive learning environment.
Responsibilities
The Ultrasound Instructor will:
- Provide classroom and hands-on laboratory instruction in Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
- Teach and demonstrate proper ultrasound scanning techniques and protocols.
- Provide instruction in areas such as abdominal, obstetric and gynecologic, vascular, and general sonography, depending on the instructor's qualifications and assigned courses.
- Teach ultrasound physics, instrumentation, anatomy, pathology, patient care, and related professional concepts as assigned.
- Demonstrate proper operation and care of ultrasound equipment.
- Supervise students during laboratory practice and evaluate scanning competencies.
- Prepare and follow lesson plans, course syllabi, instructional materials, and curriculum requirements.
- Evaluate student performance through examinations, assignments, laboratory competencies, and practical assessments.
- Maintain accurate attendance, grades, progress reports, and other required academic documentation.
- Provide academic support and remediation to students when necessary.
- Maintain a professional, respectful, and supportive classroom environment.
- Ensure students follow appropriate patient care, infection-control, safety, privacy, and professional standards.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, curriculum review, program assessment, and institutional activities.
- Assist the program with maintaining educational and accreditation standards.
- Remain current with developments, technology, and professional practices in diagnostic medical sonography.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of two (2) years of professional work experience as an Ultrasound Technician / Diagnostic Medical Sonographer.
- Education and professional background appropriate to Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
- Strong clinical scanning skills and knowledge of ultrasound procedures.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, ultrasound physics, and sonographic techniques.
- Ability to effectively demonstrate scanning procedures and clinical competencies to students.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain accurate academic records and comply with institutional policies and program requirements.
Preferred:
- ARDMS certification in one or more specialties, such as Abdomen (AB), OB/GYN, or Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT).
Schedule
AMAT Healthcare Institute offers multiple teaching schedules. Depending on program needs and instructor availability, opportunities may include:
- Day classes
- Evening classes
- Weekend classes
- Full-time or part-time assignments
