JOB TITLE: SPECIALIST WORLD LANGUAGES FLSA STATUS: EXEMPT
PAY GRADE: PRF 4 DUTY DAYS: 226 DATE REVISED: 04/29/2025 HC

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field from an accredited college or university is required. A Master’s Degree is
preferred. Experience working with students learning languages other than English (LOTE), and bilingual ability in English and
one or more additional languages is required. A valid LOTE Texas teaching certificate and five (5) years of successful
experience teaching world language courses in urban schools with diverse student populations is preferred. A Texas driver’s
license is required. District-wide travel required.
SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires:
- Knowledge of World Language program design and instructional practices and Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills
- Effective written and oral communication skills in English and one or more additional languages.
- Ability to coach adults, design and facilitate effective professional learning, evaluate performance, provide, and
- Proficiency with technology, including Google Suite (GSlides, GDocs, etc.), Microsoft Suite, and Canvas LMS
- Ability to manage time and resources effectively and efficiently, organize and maintain records, and analyze data.
JOB PURPOSE AND RESPONSIBILITY:
This position is responsible for collaborating within the Multilingual Education Team, with other members of the Office of
Academics and the Office of School Leadership, campus administrators and instructional coaches that strengthen the
implementation of effective World Languages programs. This would include the language courses for Secondary Dual
Language, through facilitation of program development, professional learning, capacity development, and data analysis.
Incumbent must ensure that World Language courses are provided in alignment with state, federal and District laws, rules,
regulations, policies, and guidelines.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Program Development
Support the development and refinement of the District’s World Languages program designs and associated documents
- Participate in identifying, developing, and evaluating appropriate World Languages resources for at the District and
- Collaborate to develop and implement protocols and tools for classroom observations and collection of data regarding
Professional Learning and Coaching
- Design and facilitate professional learning at the District and campus levels that increases effectiveness and improves
- Implement coaching strategies effectively using the District coaching model.
- Support campus professional learning community (PLC) meetings related to World Languages.

Apply expertise to provide guidance to campus instructional leadership teams related to improvement of instructional
- Communicate regularly with campus leadership as a liaison for the Multilingual Education Team.
- Model instructional practices and coaching techniques for campus instructional leadership teams, teachers, and other
- Assist campus instructional leadership teams with interpreting assessment data appropriately based on research and best
- Support campus leadership with strategies for staffing, scheduling, and other instructional and logistical decision-making.
- Support campus planning for family engagement.
- Support campus efforts to recruit students into World Language courses, with a focus on underrepresented student
groups.
Data Analysis
Organize, analyze, and disaggregate District and campus data to identify priorities, set performance goals, and monitor
- Use District data to make informed decisions regarding the focus and content of professional development.
- Research, write, and analyze data reports as needed.
Other Functions Represent and support the District’s strategic plan, instructional philosophy, frameworks, and curriculum in all aspects.
- Attend and support Multilingual Education and District special events.
- Collaborate with other District personnel as assigned to align efforts to achieve district goals.
- Serve on District committees as assigned.
- Provide an exceptional customer experience for all AISD stakeholders with intentional and professional practices that
promote a culture of respect.
OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED:
Perform other related duties as assigned. Additionally, all employees are expected to comply with lawful directives in rare
situations driven by need where a team effort is required.

required for this position.
