HVAC SUPERINTENDENT - Austin Industrial - Bogalusa, LA

Position Overview

The HVAC Superintendent – Industrial is responsible for leading field operations on industrial HVAC projects, including installation, commissioning, and maintenance of large mechanical systems. This role ensures that all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and company expectations. The superintendent acts as the primary on‑site leader, coordinating crews, subcontractors, vendors, and project managers.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise HVAC field crews, subcontractors, and technicians on industrial job sites.
• Plan, schedule, and coordinate daily work activities to meet project milestones.
• Interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and submittals to ensure accurate installation.
• Oversee installation of industrial HVAC systems, including chillers, boilers, cooling towers, air handlers, ductwork, piping, and controls.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, company safety policies, and site‑specific safety requirements.
• Conduct daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, and job hazard analyses.
• Monitor quality control, ensuring all work meets engineering and manufacturer standards.
• Collaborate with project managers on manpower planning, material needs, and schedule updates.
• Coordinate inspections, testing, and commissioning activities.
• Troubleshoot field issues and provide technical guidance to crews.
• Maintain accurate documentation, including daily reports, progress tracking, and change order notes.
• Communicate with clients, general contractors, and other trades to resolve conflicts and maintain workflow.

Required Qualifications

• 5–10 years of industrial HVAC experience, including supervisory or foreman-level leadership.
• Strong knowledge of industrial mechanical systems, including hydronic systems, process cooling, and large‑scale air handling.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, P&IDs, and mechanical schematics.
• Proven experience managing crews on complex industrial or heavy commercial projects.
• Strong understanding of OSHA safety standards and job‑site safety practices.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills.
• Valid driver’s license; ability to travel to job sites as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in manufacturing plants, refineries, data centers, power plants, or large industrial facilities.
• HVAC trade school certification or apprenticeship completion.
• EPA Universal Certification.
• Knowledge of BIM coordination, mechanical commissioning, and QA/QC processes.
• Familiarity with project management software or field reporting tools.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, work at heights, and navigate active construction sites.
• Ability to work in varying environmental conditions (heat, cold, confined spaces).
