Lead Writer & Content Strategist

Position Summary
We’re looking for a Lead Writer & Content Strategist to join our growing team and take ownership of our inbound marketing game plan. Your mission is to help us drive qualified traffic, leads, and sales by building us into the #1 trusted authority in sports construction.
Our Writer & Content Strategist brings a journalist’s mindset and a passion for storytelling, paired with an obsession for performance—tracking what works, refining the playbook, and continuously improving results. You’ll own the full content cycle, from ideation to execution to analytics, always looking for ways to elevate our game.
This is a role where your work won’t sit in a folder—it will be used by our sales team, seen by customers, and directly impact the growth of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and execute our content strategy based on Marcus Sheridan’s They Ask, You Answer and Endless Customers, focused on driving real revenue and supporting the sales process
- Consistently produce high-quality written content (targeting ~3 pieces per week) designed to educate, build trust, and generate traffic, leads, and sales
- Collaborate with the sales team to identify content opportunities, answer real customer questions, and build an effective editorial calendar
- Interview internal subject matter experts to turn knowledge into valuable, customer-focused content
- Use data, SEO, and AI tools to optimize content performance, improve efficiency, and guide decision-making
- Manage and improve content quality, including editing, proofreading, and refining messaging for clarity and impact
- Lead email marketing efforts, including newsletters and automated workflows to nurture leads
- Create high-converting content assets, such as pillar pages, guides, and self-selection tools that support the buyer’s journey
- Distribute and promote content across appropriate channels, including social media, to maximize reach and engagement
- Track performance and report on results using tools like GA4, Search Console, CRM data, and other platforms
- Commit to ongoing growth and development, staying up to date on content strategy, marketing tools, and best practices
Educational Background
A degree in English, Journalism, or Public Relations is highly preferred but not mandatory. Commensurate experience will be considered.
Skills and Required Knowledge
- A true passion for writing
- Impeccable writing and editorial skills, with an outstanding command of the English language
- Understanding of editorial style guides (AP Style, Chicago Manual of Style, etc.)
- Ability to clearly articulate the business goal behind content
- Experience using AI tools like ChatGPT, Claude, Llama, etc.
- Understanding of AI’s role in marketing, including content creation and customer behavior
- Strong people skills
- Experience with tools such as HubSpot, Google Analytics, Google Search Console, SEMRush
- Strong interview skills and ability to listen thoughtfully
- Ability to use data to inform decisions
- Comfortable giving and receiving feedback
- Team-oriented mindset
Bonus Skills: HubSpot experience, print or broadcast journalism training
Salary
- Base Salary Variable: $60,000 to $80,000 per year based on: (Based on content quality, consistency, and contribution to traffic, leads, and revenue)
- Profit Sharing – Significant portion of company gross profits distributed to employees
