REPORTS TO: Directly: Supportability Engineer IV Indirectly: ILS Manager AUTHORITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for schedules, and project coordination. Responsible for technical input to Obsolescence Management efforts. Responsible for Maintenance Analysis efforts for all shipboard installed equipment. Analysis shall include all levels of maintenance; Organizational, Intermediate, Depot, failure modes and effects, preventive maintenance, inactive equipment maintenance, corrective maintenance, servicing and lubrication and other appropriate Logistics Support Analysis. Perform Life Cycle Cost (LCC)/Total Ownership Cost (TOC) estimates, maintenance planning and analyses, logistics and supportability analyses, equipment configuration management, configuration status accounting, supply support, and other logistics support Performs front-end and detailed supportability analyses and cost tradeoff studies to optimize System cost from concept phase through the design, development, acquisition, deployment and disposal phases. Performs logistics supportability engineering work making independent decisions on spare or replacement parts and supply support problems and methods in field(s) or specialization. Knowledge in Preparation of preliminary preventive maintenance documentation including maintenance requirement cards (MRC’s) and maintenance index pages (MIP’s) in accordance with Navy specifications (as required by contract). Knowledge of and provide input for development of in-yard Preservation & Preventive Maintenance (P&PM) procedures to maintain/protect equipment from in-yard receipt until ship delivery Responsible for interfacing with OEMs/Suppliers to obtain Vendor Furnished Information as needed Responsible for ensuring all change order activity that impacts maintenance is processed, documented and communicated to rest of ILS Team Successful applicant must be willing to cross-train to other areas within ILS as necessary QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE: General Requires 4 year Engineering degree from an accredited university, preferably in mechanical, industrial or electrical engineering, or BS degree plus ILS experience in Maintenance and Supportability Engineering. 5 years of Supportability/Logistics/Systems Engineering Analysis experience on Government Contracts Background in reading and working with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) Vendor Furnished Information including drawings and parts lists required. Excellent written and oral communication skills is required Computer literate and familiar with Microsoft Office products. Experience interfacing with internal/external customers including equipment manufacturers, Supply Chain and Engineering personnel. Life Cycle Cost estimating experience preferred RMA modeling and analysis experience preferred RCM Level II certification preferred Prior U.S. Navy, MSC or USCG experience desired, but not required US Citizenship TOOLS: MS Office Haystack Navy PMS Editor ACEIT, PRICE cost estimating software RMA Modeling software DIRECTION EXERCISED: Work is performed without appreciable direction. DISCRETION EXERCISED: Develops solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity. Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment. Works with all departments to ensure best information and decision making processes are being utilized. Predominately exercises independent judgment in the performance of duties consistent with directives, policies, standards and regulations.
