Position Purpose
Aurora University seeks talented adjunct faculty who are passionate about teaching and learning. Adjunct faculty are qualified part-time instructors offered teaching opportunities based on course demand and staffing.
Essential Job Functions
Aurora University is looking for adjunct faculty to work in the MSW program, with opportunities to teach across the MSW core curriculum. However, there is a particular need for instructors qualified to teach the courses listed below:
AU faculty should be present and engaged in courses by doing the following:
Minimum Qualifications
The anticipated pay rate for this position is $1,100 per credit hour. This compensation is subject to change at the sole discretion of the university, based on institutional needs.
The pay range referenced in the job posting is the budgeted amount the university reasonably expects to pay for this position. The final pay rate will not be below the lowest pay rate listed herein.
Benefit-eligible positions offer excellent benefits including health, dental, life, vision, long term disability, a 403(b) retirement plan through TIAA, and tuition remission.

- SWK 6140 Social Welfare Policy and Institutions
- SWK 6500 Psychopathology
- SWK 6511 Evidence Based Social Work Practice
- SWK 6521 Psychotherapy in SW Practice
- SWK 6533 Advanced Macro Practice
- SWK 6575 DEI in SW Practice
- Electives in School Social Work, Child Welfare, Addictions, Forensic Social Work, Military/Veteran SW, Healthcare SW, and Gerontology
AU faculty should be present and engaged in courses by doing the following:
- Facilitate courses in person at the Aurora campus or the University Center or in the online MSW program
- Meet weekly grading deadlines and maintain up-to-date grade books.
- Be responsive to student email messages and requests for assistance with 24 hour response time
- Provide mentorship in the discipline and content expertise.
- Respond to all university and departmental requests, emails, messages, and correspondence.
- Alert student, advisor, and Director of Graduate Studies when a student is at risk of failing a course using Academic Alert system
Minimum Qualifications
- An MSW degree, clinical license, and a minimum of five years of professional experience are required.
- Weekday availability for campus-based classes is necessary.
- Online courses are asynchronous and fully remote.
- Experience teaching is strongly preferred.
