Key Duties & Responsibilities
Specific duties and responsibilities shall include the following:
Installation & Repair
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems and equipment on commercial, industrial, solar, and construction projects, including panels, circuits, and power distribution.
- Perform conduit bending, wire pulling, terminations, and panel work to spec.
- Troubleshoot electrical faults quickly and safely.
- Perform preventive maintenance on electrical systems to minimize unplanned downtime.
- Support commissioning, testing, and energization of new electrical installations.
- Verify proper operation of installed electrical systems prior to project turnover.
- Ensure all work complies with NEC, local codes, and site specific safety protocols, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures.
- Read and interpret blueprints, one line diagrams, and electrical schematics.
- Work with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) where applicable.
- Maintain accurate documentation of work performed using work orders and maintenance logs.
- Coordinate closely with project managers, foremen, and other trades to keep builds and repairs on schedule.
- Provide direction and oversight to helpers and apprentices on site.
Skills, Abilities & Knowledge
- Journeyman or Master Electrician license required.
- 4 years of experience in commercial or industrial electrical work.
- Working knowledge of NEC and local code requirements.
- Comfortable working from ladders, lifts, and in confined or raised floor spaces.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand or climb for extended periods.
- Willingness to travel up to 80% of the time depending on active projects, including out of state assignments.
- Experience with backup or redundant power systems (UPS, PDUs, switchgear, generators).
- Experience with high voltage systems or switchgear.
- OSHA 10 or 30 certification.
- NFPA 70E
