School Nurse
Location: Aurora, Nebraska
Employment Type: Full-Time, School-Year Contract
Reports To: District Administration
Position Summary
Aurora Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to serve as our District School Nurse. This position provides health services across the district buildings (PK-12), working collaboratively with administrators, teachers, families, and community health providers to support the physical and emotional wellbeing of our students.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care and first aid/emergency response to students and staff across all district buildings
- Maintain accurate student health records, immunization documentation, and required state health reporting
- Administer medications and manage individualized health care plans (e.g., diabetes, asthma, allergies, seizure disorders)
- Coordinate with families and outside healthcare providers regarding student health needs
- Conduct or coordinate required health screenings (vision, hearing, scoliosis, etc.)
- Support staff training on health-related emergency procedures (e.g., EpiPen use, CPR/First Aid)
- Serve as a resource to staff on health and safety protocols, including communicable disease management
- Collaborate with school counselors and administration on student wellness and mental health referrals
- Assist in district health and safety planning, including emergency preparedness
- Ensure compliance with Nebraska Department of Education and Nebraska DHHS health requirements
- Possess high level of professionalism with strong moral and ethical behavior
- Serve as a positive role model to students of the school and district

Qualifications
Required:
- Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Nebraska
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with students, families, and staff
- Ability to work independently and manage responsibilities across multiple school buildings
- Current CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
Preferred:
- Experience in a school or pediatric healthcare setting
- Familiarity with student health record systems
