Doctoral Practicum Student - Adult Intensive Services/CLP (59927)

Are you looking for a doctoral practicum where you can truly thrive and gain hands-on clinical experience? Aurora Mental Health & Recovery (AMHR) is seeking a Doctoral Practicum Student to join our Community Living Program (CLP), providing vital mental health services to adults. In this highly supportive, multidisciplinary environment, practicum students will maintain a small caseload of 5–8 individual therapy clients, conduct intakes, and co‑facilitate group therapy while building skills in crisis management, risk assessment, hospitalization procedures, and systems navigation. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with a diverse team of psychiatrists, clinicians, case managers, nurses, and residential staff, and to support clients through individual and group therapy, crisis intervention, case management coordination, peer support, psychoeducation, and recreation therapy—delivered both in-person and via telehealth. Ideal candidates bring prior therapy experience, a passion for serving under-resourced communities, and a commitment to working with individuals with severe and persistent mental illness, while integrating therapeutic work with advocacy to help clients access essential resources.

Schedule. This placement runs approximately 12 months, beginning in the summer or early fall of 2026. students will work 16–20 hours per week across 2–3 days, based on program needs and practicum requirements as determined with the supervisor. Participation in a virtual team meeting is required on Thursdays from 3–4 p.m. This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule.

About you.

• Doctoral Level Student working towards a PhD or PsyD. 
• Candidates must have prior therapy experience. Strong candidates will be motivated to work with under-resourced community members and work with individuals with severe and persistent mental illness.

Required Vaccination and TB Test. 

At AMHR the health and safety of our clients and staff are our top priorities. As part of this commitment, all employees are required to receive an annual influenza (flu) shot and present a negative TB test result before their first day of work. Proof of both the flu shot and negative TB test must be provided on your first day of employment. Medical and religious exemptions can be requested if necessary.
