Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented QA/QC Lab Technician to join our manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting quality control tests, maintaining laboratory equipment, and ensuring our polymer compounds meet stringent quality specifications and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Control Testing
- Perform routine physical and chemical testing on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished polymer compounds
- Conduct standard tests including viscosity, density, hardness, tensile strength, elongation, and thermal analysis
- Execute color matching and appearance evaluations
- Monitor and document product specifications to ensure compliance with customer requirements
- Identify non-conforming materials and initiate corrective action procedures
Laboratory Operations
- Maintain laboratory equipment including rheometers, tensile testers, DSC, TGA, and other analytical instruments
- Calibrate testing equipment according to scheduled maintenance programs
- Prepare test specimens using molding equipment, mixers, and sample preparation tools
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment
Documentation & Reporting
- Record test results accurately in laboratory information management systems
- Generate Certificates of Analysis (COAs) for finished products
- Maintain detailed records of quality control activities and testing procedures
- Document any deviations or out-of-specification results
Compliance & Safety
- Adhere to all safety protocols including proper use of PPE
- Follow ISO 9001 quality management system requirements
- Comply with OSHA regulations and company safety policies
- Participate in internal and external audits as needed
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
- 3-5 years of experience in a quality control or analytical laboratory setting
- Experience with polymer materials, rubber compounds, or plastics preferred
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in using laboratory testing equipment and analytical instruments
- Understanding of polymer chemistry and material properties
- Familiarity with ASTM, ISO, or other relevant testing standards
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office
- Strong mathematical skills for calculations and data analysis

Work Environment
This position is primarily based in a laboratory setting within a manufacturing facility. May involve exposure to chemicals, heat, and noise. Day shift 6:00AM – 6:00PM Monday through Thursday with occasional Friday work as needed.
