Job description
Here is a glimpse of what you’ll do:
- Be able to recognize quality workmanship standards and visually identify problems
- Confidently use all available inspection equipment
- Run machines and do secondaries (deburring, tapping, countersink)
- Be able to work to tight tolerances
- Be able to develop workholding strategies, tool lists, and MasterCam programs that produce parts within the estimated cycle times and at a high first-pass yield rate
- Independently and quickly complete setups, and efficiently use cycle time to plan and begin the next tasks
- Contribute to standard practices & setup procedures
- Continually develop a deeper understanding of the types of tooling used and new use-cases for them (e.g., shapes, materials, coatings, and toolpath types)
- Maintain a work area to ensure a safe and clean work environment.
- Perform preventative maintenance tasks
- Select the proper measuring device to inspect the work-piece as required.
- Read and understand engineering drawings, blueprints, control plan information, and related verbal instructions.
- Sets up, operates, and assists/edits programming of the CNC Lathe to perform a combination of machining operations such as facing, turning, boring, threading, drilling, reaming, broaching, and knurling metal work pieces to specifications.
- Inserts cutting tools/tool holders and position tools.
Here is some of what you’ll need (required):
- Have the ability to regularly lift and/or move 25-50 pounds
- Possess detailed operational knowledge of specific CNC machining to operate safely and efficiently
- Understanding of how to calculate and set machine controls either manually or by entering commands
Here is what is recommended but not required:
- Mastercam, Bridgemill, and manual machine experience
- Haas live tooling lathe
