JOB PURPOSE SUMMARY:
The Lab Technician is responsible for in-process and finished dairy/milk product quality testing, maintaining accurate and complete records and alerting management to any potential quality issues. This job includes laboratory and non-laboratory duties throughout the processing plant.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESULTS:
Laboratory Essentials:
• Responsible for Microbiological and Chemical testing of in-process and finished product.
• Responsible for performing process control testing in a manufacturing environment.
• Maintain accurate and complete laboratory testing result records.
• Maintain Good Laboratory Practices.
• Laboratory testing result data entry.
• Be cross trained in all lab functions.
• Will provide coverage for other departmental employee absences.
Non-Laboratory Essentials:
• Assist in all in-bound and finished product milk processing including but not limited to: Customer Service, working with our Laboratory and Product Information Management System, Tanker/Silo Inventory Control, administrative assistant duties. o Competency in Microsoft Windows and Office products.
• Work with drivers, receivers, processors, operators, fillers, corporate and other staff.
• Be cross trained in non-laboratory functions.
• Maintain Good Manufacturing Practices and Safety Procedures.
• Communicate any potential quality issues to Quality Management.
• All plant personnel have the responsibility to monitor and report any deviations from our Food Safety and Food Quality (HACCP & SQF) programs to your immediate supervisor. o Member of HACCP team.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
Required:
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Plus, either:
o 2 years of laboratory/manufacturing/food processing experience. -or-
o College level introductory Biology and Chemistry.
Desired:
• Associates degree in Meat or Dairy Manufacturing/Science, Agriculture Science, Food Science, Biology, Chemistry or related field.
• Experience in dairy laboratory testing procedures preferred.
• Knowledge of laboratory testing methods.
Salary : $20 - $24
