Aurora Blue Utility is seeking a motivated, technically adept individual to help support our quickly expanding Utility Planning department. This position will offer competitive pay, a high performance, fun environment, and exposure to a variety of exciting new development projects across Southern California. The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of electrical distribution design and experience working with a utility company or contractor. Our department leads have decades of experience in the utility industry and will provide project-specific training. Basic project management skills and a great attitude are a must as this Utility Planning Specialist will have heavy interaction with fast-moving, high-visibility projects. Qualifications:
- Knowledge of electrical distribution design
- Strong MS office skills (Word, Excel, Design software)
- Experience working with external customers
- Experience managing multiple projects with customer commitment dates
- Strong understanding of civil construction drawings (Street Improvement, Site Plans, Utility Plans)
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Willing to commute to various locations throughout Southern California
- Ability to collect accurate field information independently
- A great attitude, a drive to create solutions, and a desire to have fun in a fast-paced environment
- Must have a current CA Driver’s License
Preferences:
- Utility Planning knowledge (SCE/LADWP/SDGE specifically)
- Experience working for Utility, Utility design contractor, or Applicant Designer
- Experience using pole loading software such as SPIDA or O-Calc.
- Experience in collecting field data for utility lines.
- Knowledge of SCE standards including PLM, DDS, UGS, DOH, and GO 95.
Typical Duties:
- Collect field data including height/distance measurements, pictures, and sketches of utility pole lines and existing utility facilities.
- Create field sketches of current and proposed utility facilities.
- Draw map(s) using the correct mapping symbols, callouts, decals, proper tie-downs, etc.
- Complete engineering functions and calculations to provide accurate proposed utility designs.
- Create composite utility designs for new development and relocation projects. Includes Power, Communication, Gas, and all other utilities.
- Input pole loading information. Engineer pole installation and replacement.
- Interact with clients and their design teams.
- Create and implement design solutions for a variety of projects.
- Track and manage multiple projects in various phases of design and construction.
- Work with the construction department to create workable efficient designs.
- Train and build skillsets of team members.

Pay: $51,253.67 - $124,147.88 per year
