Position Summary
Aurelia Technologies is seeking a detail-oriented Drafter Designer to support our Engineering team in the development, packaging, and integration of microturbine-based power generation systems. This role focuses on producing high-quality 2D and 3D drawings, models, and documentation that enable efficient manufacturing, assembly, and installation of our products.
The ideal candidate is a collaborative problem-solver with strong drafting skills, experience in industrial or energy environments, and the ability to translate engineering concepts into accurate, manufacturable designs. This position plays a key role in supporting Mechanical, Electrical, and Controls Engineers across multiple projects.
Essential Functions
The following duties and responsibilities are essential functions, as defined by the ADA, except for those that begin with the word “may.”
- Create and update 2D drawings, 3D models, and design packages for microturbine systems and related components
- Prepare detailed fabrication, assembly, and installation drawings for mechanical and electrical subsystems
- Support engineers by converting conceptual designs, sketches, and specifications into accurate CAD models
- Maintain drawing standards, revision control, and documentation accuracy within the PLM system
- Collaborate with Mechanical, Electrical, and Controls Engineers to ensure proper fit, form, and function
- Assist in packaging design for skids, enclosures, wiring layouts, and equipment integration
- Participate in design reviews, build reviews, and FAT activities to validate drawing accuracy
- Update drawings based on field feedback, engineering changes, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Coordinate with Supply Chain to ensure drawings reflect correct materials, components, and vendor specifications
- Prepare bill of materials (BOMs), exploded views, and technical documentation for manufacturing
- Support troubleshooting by reviewing drawings and identifying potential design or assembly issues
Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities Required
- Associate degree in Drafting, Design Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3 years of drafting/design experience in industrial, energy, or manufacturing environments
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar CAD platforms
- Ability to create detailed fabrication and assembly drawings
- Strong understanding of mechanical and/or electrical drafting principles
- Familiarity with tolerancing, dimensioning standards, and drawing best practices
- Excellent documentation, organization, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Preferred
- Experience with turbine systems, rotating equipment, or packaged industrial equipment
- Knowledge of electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, or panel layouts
- Experience with PLM/PDM systems and revision control
- Exposure to NEC, UL, ISO, or other relevant standards
- Experience supporting field installations or commissioning activities
Physical Requirements / Work Environment
- Primarily office-based with routine visits to the shop floor, test area, and customer sites
- Ability to stand, walk, or lift/move components (up to 25 lbs) during inspections
- Close vision and focus required for drawings, prototypes, and safety reviews
- Occasional off-hours or weekend work may be required to support testing or project deadlines
