Electromechanical Technician

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Field Service Technician with strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills to support rail transit equipment installation, commissioning, debugging, and warranty activities.

The technician will work directly with railcar manufacturers and, when required, transit authorities to diagnose and resolve technical issues with onboard rail systems. This position requires hands-on technical expertise, computer proficiency, accurate data entry, and the ability to work independently at customer locations. Travel to out-of-state locations is required.

Key Responsibilities

• Understand and apply manufacturer procedures, technical guidelines, and service requirements.
• Represent the organization professionally when working with railcar manufacturers and assembly teams.
• Assist railcar builders and, when required, transit authorities with debugging and troubleshooting rail system equipment.
• Provide technical support during railcar commissioning, testing, and warranty phases.
• Travel to transit authority facilities and railcar assembly plants at various locations as project requirements dictate.
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems affecting onboard rail systems.
• Verify and confirm issues identified by railcar builders and assist in determining appropriate corrective actions.
• Use laptops and computer-based diagnostic tools to troubleshoot equipment and perform software downloads.
• Enter technical data, service findings, maintenance records, and other required information into computer systems.
• Follow established service procedures and contractual requirements when supporting customers.
• Work independently at transit authority locations while maintaining accountability, integrity, and professional conduct.
• Coordinate with customer personnel and temporary workforce members as needed to support field service activities.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 5 years of experience working as a technician or in an equivalent technical role.
• Strong hands-on mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
• Technical training or practical experience with both electrical and mechanical systems.
• Proficiency with PCs and laptops, including computer-based troubleshooting and software downloads.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and the ability to enter and maintain accurate technical records.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to out-of-state locations.
• Ability to work independently at customer and transit authority facilities.
• Strong communication, accountability, integrity, and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the rail, railway, or mass transit industry.
• Technical certifications or specialized training in electrical or mechanical systems.
• Experience supporting railcar assembly, commissioning, debugging, or warranty service.
• Previous experience coordinating or leading temporary personnel in a technical environment.
