Job Overview - General Summary

The Processing Manager will coordinate post-harvest, cure, processing, and packaging operations in compliance with company procedures and state guidelines. The processing Manager reports directly to the Director of Cultivation and will track post-harvest data with an eye to continuous improvement in process efficiency, processes, and procedures.

The Processing Manager role will include but not be limited to support management in the following:

· Manage and coordinate post-harvest, cure, processing, and packaging operations at the facility.

· Inventory oversight, management, and organization.

· Assure compliance requirements are met or exceeded through operational and physical support.

· Create, improve, implement, and ensure quality standards and procedures for post-harvest operations

· Monitor employee progress; coach, train and develop employees in the accomplishment of their duties and goals through personal and professional growth

· Create, implement, and continually review systems for operational efficiency, noting problems and/or redundancies and recommending solutions to better streamline operational efficiency and quality

· Support regulatory compliance activities including authoring and reviewing study reports, and SOPs

· Oversee department Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and monthly production goals.

· Manage department operating and labor costs.

· Develop, implement, and manage production performance, forecasting and scheduling tools.

Responsibilities

· Coordinate directly with the Director of Cultivation to ensure the successful transfer of harvested material to dry rooms based on a weekly harvest schedule

· Work closely with both cultivation and retail team members to ensure that cultivation and processing operations are producing desired SKUs on schedule based on market demand

· Ensure that harvested material is properly tracked, weighed, and recorded into METRC and transferred to drying racks

· Monitor and analyze environmental conditions in the dry and cure rooms to ensure that target environmental setpoints and anticipated drying timeline are achieved in accordance with strict quality control standards

· Ensure that harvested batches are sent for independent lab testing, coordinate with testing labs and ensure that batch COAs are recorded

· Direct and oversee the trimming process, including machine trim and manual trim techniques

· Ensure that all processed material is properly packaged, tracked, and labeled according to state guidelines

· Oversee cleaning and regular maintenance of dry and cure rooms and post-harvest equipment

· Institute and enforce best workplace practices in compliance with the company’s standard operating procedures (SOPs) and state guidelines to ensure a safe working environment and safe product handling

· Responsible for data collection, recording, and reporting weight metrics throughout the entire post-harvest process and ensure compliance with METRC product tracking

· Ensure that batches of flowers are free of any contamination.

· Effectively process dried flowers and compile all material into testable packages in the METRC inventory tracking system.

· Communicate effectively with managers of each department.

· Responsible for ensuring and logging all post-harvest batch weights in the appropriate spreadsheet/tracking software.

· Ability to answer staff questions and concerns before deferring to the director.

· Provide disciplinary action and communicate with all insubordination staff concerning company policies or state regulations to upper management.

· Oversee post-harvest work in accordance with the needs of the production schedule.

· Implement processes to ensure proper sanitation of all post-harvest tools, workspaces, and rooms used during the post-harvesting process.

· Train and confirm that all post-harvest staff follow and execute the company's standard operating procedures.

· Develop and present strategies to improve upon pre-existing operating procedures.

· Author, edit, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the post-harvest process.

· Audit and ensure compliance of all material from logging plants into METRC during harvest to processing and organizing dried material

· Ongoing maintenance of all facets of the post-harvest department.

· Calibration of equipment for data collection and automation.

Required Education, Experience, and Skills

· At least 4 years of commercial post-harvest or cultivation experience, preferably in a supervisory role

· Expert in METRC Seed-to-Sale regulatory cannabis system

· Fluent with ERP platforms, i.e. TRYM, DISTRU, APEX

· Ability to multi-task with excellent follow-through skills

· Strong attention to detail

· High energy, enthusiasm, and the willingness to do whatever it takes to get the job done

· Thorough knowledge of cannabis cultivation protocols, policies, and procedures

· Awareness of the harvest, processing and packaging schedules

· Willingness to teach and train production associates who need assistance

· Have an oriented manufacturer's eye

· Strong leadership skills

· Experience training and supervising others

· Ability to work with uniformity

· Effective and accurate data entry skills

· Skilled in general computer operating systems and applications, including MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Outlook).

· Experience using automated processing equipment

· Excellent time management skills, attendance, and punctuality

· Ability to collaborate with the other departments effectively

· Thrive in a team environment

· Good conflict resolution abilities to maintain a positive team environment

· Ability to solve problems and take initiative

· Strong verbal and written communication skills

· Excellent listening and interpretation skills

· Familiarity with state policy and regulation governing recreational/medical cannabis production

· Proficient at all tasks concerning post-harvest

· Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment

· Ability to visually examine the work environment to identify potential safety/OSHA violations

Minimum Requirements

· High school diploma or equivalent

· Must be 21 years old

· Must pass a comprehensive background check as mandated by the Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission

Pay: $70,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
