GENERAL X-RAY MACHINE OPERATOR

A General X-Ray Machine Operator (GXMO) colleague performs radiologic imaging procedures under the scope of licensure defined by the Ohio Department of Health; operates x-ray equipment, positions patients, performs and documents patient assessment as relates to the imaging encounter. The GXMO exports images to PACS, will access and utilize the HIS as needed, prepare the exam room, equipment and supplies. GXMO colleagues will not perform fluoroscopic procedures, portable exams or surgery cases.

The department provides diagnostic x-ray imaging services within the health care facility to patients in need.

• Ohio GXMO certification

• High School Diploma or equivalent

• Radiology experience, preferred.

• Obtain and maintain current American Heart Association (AHA) training in Basic Life Support (BLS) utilizing Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) is required.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Detail oriented.

• Ability to set priorities and reprioritize as needed.

• Use of proper body mechanics while caring for patients.

• Identify each patient and review physician orders for accuracy.

• Properly position patients for high image quality.

• Medical record documentation in HIS and RIS or systems required per department.

• Review each examination for quality.

• Maintain cleanliness of equipment and stock supplies.

• Communicate pertinent information to supervisor or responsible individual.

• Explain exams/procedures to patients and address any questions or concerns.

• Adhere to Aultman policies and procedures.

• Ability to operate equipment within the department.

• Hours may vary as required by job. Weekends and holidays per facility need.

• Subject to frequent interruptions and changes in priority of duties throughout the day.

• Lunch periods and breaks are coordinated with other staff members to maintain adequate coverage.

• Colleagues may be assigned to different locations within the foundation.
