What are the responsibilities and job description for the CLERICAL INTAKE - Compassionate Care Center position at Aultman Health Foundation?
PURPOSE OF POSITION
The primary purpose of the Clerical Intake staff person is to coordinate and organize referrals and documentation to facilitate the smooth running of the healthcare environment and support delivery of quality patient care.
RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS
- Enter patients in the EMR according to established protocols
- Ensure patient information is accurate including billing information
- Contact insurance to verify and determine coverage
- Obtain pre-authorizations
- Maintain and manage patient records, assuring that physician orders are signed and added to patient’s chart/EMR
- Answer incoming calls and deal with inquiries
- Transfer calls as required
- Schedule patient appointments
- Report statistics as required
- Obtain external medical reports as required by medical professionals
- Respond and comply to requests for information
- Manage patient discharges
- Maintain patient caseload lists for IDT meetings
- Complete other clerical duties as assigned
- Maintain stock of forms and office supplies
- Safeguard patient privacy and confidentiality
- Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma
- Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures and diagnosis
- Knowledge of computer and relevant software applications
- Knowledge of general administrative and clerical procedures
- Working knowledge of healthcare insurance preferred

WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Hours of operation with shifts as assigned including occasional overtime, on-call or off-shifts (evenings and/or weekends) scheduled as necessary.
- Subject to frequent interruptions and changes in priority of duties throughout the day.
- Subject to emergency and other crisis situations.
- May be required to travel in inclement weather.
