Position Summary:
The OR Nurse is responsible for providing safe, high-quality, and compassionate perioperative nursing care to patients undergoing surgical and procedural interventions in an Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) setting. This role ensures patient safety, supports the surgical team, and coordinates care before, during, and after procedures in compliance with established clinical standards, regulatory requirements, and the ASC’s mission.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures in the operating room.
- Verify patient identity, procedure, and consent according to safety protocols.
- Monitor patient status and advocate for patient safety throughout the perioperative process.
- Prepare and maintain a sterile surgical environment.
- Assist surgeons, anesthesiologists, and surgical technicians during procedures.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and provide necessary instruments, equipment, and supplies.
- Maintain accurate intraoperative documentation.
- Communicate effectively with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical techs, nurses, and administrative staff.
- Participate in pre-op and post-op briefings to ensure continuity of care.
- Educate patients and families regarding the surgical process and postoperative expectations.
- Adhere to ASC policies, procedures, infection control, and regulatory standards (CMS, AAAHC, OSHA).
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, safety drills, and continuing education.
- Ensure proper handling of specimens, surgical counts, and equipment.
- All other tasks as required and/or requested by administration or physician.
Qualifications:
- Required Certification: BLS, ACLS; PALS referred
- Required Licensure: Current, unrestricted RN license in Georgia
- 2 years of relevant experience preferred.
- Experience working with Allscripts PM and EHR preferred.
- Familiarity with Providerflow or similar fax management systems is a plus.
Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office.
Work Environment:
- Standard office and clinical environment.
- Must be able to be active and mobile for an eight hour period.
- Must have the ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds or transfer and transport patients.

Salary : $66,464 - $87,754
