Provides administrative and secretarial support to the Director and Assistant Director, within the guidelines of library policies, procedures, and supervisory instructions. Reports to the Director or other designated person and works with co-workers, other personnel, and the public to provide administrative support.

Positions in this class typically require: walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Work is performed in an office setting.
Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work

- Organizes and prepares for the monthly meetings of the Augusta-Richmond County Public Library System Board of Trustees and maintains current files on all Board of Trustees members.
- Records, transcribes, and distributes to each board member and pertinent library staff the minutes from the Board of Trustees meeting
- Acts as custodian of library documents and records to include maintaining files, ordering supplies, routing mail, corresponding with library staff and branch manager.
- Answers incoming calls for Administration and transfer calls to all Headquarter Departments.
- Composes and prepares confidential correspondences, reports, and other documents using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
- Arranges travel plans and itineraries, compiles documents for travel-related meetings for the Director and Assistant Director.
- Researches and communicates through written correspondence with area organizations and businesses in an effort to gain support and sponsorship for library events.
- Counts and reconciles money from library departments, gets money ready for bank deposits, sorts and distributes paychecks.
- Fills supply requisitions for each department including the five branches.
- Provides administrative and secretarial support to the Director and Assistant Director with the guidelines of the library policies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Considerable knowledge of office practices, reporting, and record keeping procedures.
- Familiarity with city and department policies and procedures.
- Proficiency in dealing with the public.
- Mastery of operating standard office equipment including personal computers.
- Good communication skills, both oral and written.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently
- Possession of a valid driver's license with good driving history. If state license is other than Georgia or South Carolina, applicant must obtain a license in Georgia or South Carolina within 30 days of employment.
