What are the responsibilities and job description for the Planning and Evaluation Manager position at Augusta National Golf Club?

The Planning and Evaluation Manager will report directly to the Senior Director of Community Impact and will play a pivotal role in the core functions of the department, specifically in assisting with the implementation of the community impact strategic plan. This position is essential for ensuring the effectiveness and impact of community investment and philanthropic initiatives. The individual in this role will be responsible for monitoring the performance of investments related to community initiatives.

The Planning and Evaluation Manager will collaborate across all internal departments, facilitating alignment with leaders who support community initiatives. An effective manager in this capacity will engage in strategic planning, evaluation and measurement, data management and reporting, stakeholder engagement, grants management support, and the promotion of practices focused on learning and continuous improvement.

Furthermore, this position may involve representing the organization at community events and embodying the organization's mission and core values. This role requires full-time employment in Augusta, Georgia. As with all positions at Augusta National, the individual must maintain strict confidentiality regarding all Club business.

This position is a full-time, on-site role in Augusta, GA.

Essential Functions Of The Job

  • Promote and support the implementation of the Community Impact strategic plan, including the pursuit of transformational philanthropic prospects, strong stakeholder relationships, and positive brand perception/reputation opportunities
  • Serve as a thought partner, and remain well informed of current research, activities, and trends as they relate to ANGC’s community impact interests
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with key external and internal stakeholders by being aware of stakeholder perspectives and objectives, while advancing ANGC’s interests
  • Contribute to the development of ANGC’s overall community investment strategy
  • Design and implement planning processes for programs and initiatives
  • Guide and help define goals, objectives, and desired outcomes related to all community investments
  • Develop evaluation frameworks and methodologies to assess the impact of community investments
  • Design and implement data collection tools and strategies
  • Analyze data and generate reports to track progress and identify areas for improvement
  • Oversee the monitoring of program activities and outcomes
  • Establish and maintain data management systems
  • Ensure data integrity and accuracy
  • Contribute to the development of grant/community investment guidelines and criteria
  • Demonstrate financial acumen by helping to evaluate grant and community investment proposals and developing funding recommendations
  • Monitor community investment performance and ensure compliance with reporting requirements
  • Collaborate with grantees, community partners, and other stakeholders
  • Facilitate communication and knowledge sharing
  • Incorporate feedback from stakeholders into program planning and evaluation
  • Identify and document lessons learned from program evaluations
  • Share evaluation findings and recommendations with stakeholders
  • Promote and support a culture of learning and continuous improvement within the organization
  • Draft and review community investment write-ups for executive review.
  • Play an active role in the department budgeting and management process and review and code invoices from external vendors in a timely manner.
  • Prepare strategy memos, briefs, reports, and presentations in a variety of formats to engage a broad range of constituents (e.g., ANGC leadership, employees, community leaders, grantees, allied funders)
  • Performs other duties deemed by management to be an integral part of the job.

Physical Demands

  • Acceptable level of hearing and vision to perform job duties.
  • Occasionally required to walk and work with hands and arms, lift items up to 25 pounds and/or drive a golf cart.
  • Constantly required to sit, sometimes for several hours at a time, and use their hands and fingers to operate a computer.

Qualifications

Skills/Knowledge/Attributes:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

Relative Experience/Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant fields of interest that may include, but are not limited to: Business, Economics, Community Development, Public Administration, or Nonprofit Management.
  • At least five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in planning and evaluation related to volunteer engagement, community outreach, grant-making, portfolio management, or community development.
  • Experience establishing and managing complex internal and external relationships.
  • Experience or ability to facilitate meetings, synthesize ideas, and provide sensitive feedback.
  • Budget management experience.

Required License(s)

  • Possess a valid driver’s license and/or successfully complete the Club’s internal motor vehicle training program.

Projected Work Schedule

Normal work hours are 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
