The County of Augusta is accepting applications for a Planner I position in the Department of Community Development. A partial listing of the duties and responsibilities of the position are as follows:
- Assists in the preparation of long-range plans, including Comprehensive Plan revisions and small area plans, along with similar studies working with County staff, Board of Supervisors, Planning Commission, consultants and citizens.
- Maintains county demographics and assists with the research and preparation of other development documents.
- Creates maps and graphics from GIS and other data for the Community Development Department, as well as other county departments and agencies and the general public.
- Assists in data analysis and outreach related to community planning.
- Responding to inquiries from the Board of Supervisors, County staff, and the public.
This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Planning or related field and some professional experience in urban planning or community development activities. Must be familiar with personal computers, good written and oral communication skills, and the ability to establish and maintain working relationships with County officials, associates, the development community, and the general public. GIS experience is preferred.
The County offers an excellent fringe benefits package including retirement, group life and health insurance and a PTO leave program. The hiring salary range is $50,092 - $55,101 DOQ.
