Reports To: Shop Foreman, Executive Director of Transportation
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
N6 Salary Scale, 260 days/8 hours

Primary Function: To perform mechanical maintenance on school buses, cars and other vehicles assigned to the County for repairs and maintenance.
Qualifications:
- To possess a High School diploma or GED equivalent
- To be in possession of a valid Virginia driver’s license
- To possess the ability to operate all vehicle types used within the Bus Garage and the Augusta County School division
- To possess a valid CDL Class B license with P,S and Air Brake endorsement within 6 months of being hired.
- To qualify for annual certification as an official inspection mechanic by the Department of Virginia State Police
- Must maintain all licenses and certifications as needed to fulfill job qualifications
- Must be able to perform 80% of the work without assistance
- To work within a drug/alcohol free work environment. To consent and pass random drug/alcohol test as required by School Board Policy.
Job Tasks:
- To demonstrate the ability to do skilled mechanical work on diesel and gasoline operated vehicles
- To demonstrate the ability to maintain good working relationships with other employees and to perform duties in a team like environment
- To have the physical capabilities to perform manual tasks as related to the overall job functions in the Bus Garage
- To perform assigned duties in the diagnosis of automotive equipment
- To perform maintenance and repair tasks following the manufacturer’s manual for repairs.
- To maintain a neat and safe work area
- To be on call as assigned by the Shop Foreman and to respond to emergency calls
- To perform all other job related duties as assigned by the Shop Foreman or the Director of Transportation
Performance Evaluation:
An employee’s job performance will be evaluated in accordance with Augusta School Board policy and regulations.
