What are the responsibilities and job description for the Environmental Inspector position at Audubon Companies?
Audubon is currently seeking an Environmental Inspector to join our team. The Environmental Inspector will support large capital projects. This role will support the Large Capital Project Group by taking on a role as subject matter expert as well as PSM/MOC responsibilities while working very closely with the Project Manager through all phases of the project. This is an ongoing requisition in which our Inspection Division frequently receives openings throughout the year. In those cases, we will review any applications and reach out to those who fit the requirements of the active role.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Possess current knowledge of pipeline rules and regulations due to environmental demands and regulations.
- Perform and participate in environmental risk assessments and environmental impacts assessments as part of pipeline project development and business opportunities.
- Coordinate constructability walk downs and reviews.
- Conduct field inspections/site assessments/audits to monitor those environmental procedures/requirements/conditions set in permits and internal company standards are being followed.
- Assist in environmental components of regulatory applications and obtaining necessary approvals for projects under development.
- Manage, advise and coordinate on environmental activities in accordance with governing HSE documents and the environment strategy for the company.
- Support with environmental competence and initiate risk reducing initiatives.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Higher education within earth and environmental studies is considered an advantage.
- Relevant industrial experience may compensate for lack of formal education.
- The ideal candidate will be experienced in identifying the environmental sensitivities that might impact selection of a pipeline right of way (wetlands, animal habitats and endangered species, etc.) Ideally, this person will be familiar with the local area and have knowledge of any specific environmental issues that are unique to the area.
- Proven work experience as an Environmental Inspector.
- Relevant certifications is a plus (e.g., Certified Environmental Inspector).
- Ability to routinely and efficiently use Microsoft Office suite of programs (Word, Excel, etc.) and Microsoft Outlook.
- Organized, with ability to prioritize activities and make decisions in complex situations with many parties involved.
- Ability to work unsupervised, demonstrate initiative and deal with ad hoc requests as part of a role that does not always have a standard routine.
- Co-operative with the ability to work in multidisciplinary project teams.
- High ethical awareness and integrity and identify with Audubon Field Solutions values.
