Interim Secondary Principal grades 5-12 for the 2026-2027 School Year
Reports to: Superintendent
Summary: The 5–12 Secondary Principal at Audubon serves as the instructional and administrative leader of the secondary building, and is responsible to provide a quality education in a positive, equitable, and respectful environment and prepares all students to become life long learners and responsible members of a rapidly changing society. To go along with our Mission of Educate, Motivate, and Inspire.
Key Responsibilities
Instructional Leadership
- Develop and implement a shared vision for academic excellence across grades 5–12
- Monitor curriculum alignment, instructional practices, and student achievement data
- Support and evaluate teachers to improve instructional effectiveness
- Promote workforce ready, 21st century for our students.
- Lead school improvement planning and ensure progress toward goals
School Culture & Climate
- Promote a positive, inclusive, and safe school environment
- Establish and enforce student behavior expectations and discipline policies
- Build strong relationships with students, staff, and families
- Support student engagement in academics, activities, and athletics
Staff Leadership & Development
- Recruit, hire, supervise, and evaluate certified and classified staff
- Facilitate professional development aligned with district goals
- Foster a collaborative and accountable team culture
Operations & Management
- Oversee daily school operations
- Ensure compliance with district, state, and federal policies and regulations
- Supervising Secondary Activities
- Coordinate safety plans, drills, and emergency procedures
Community & Family Engagement
- Communicate regularly with families
- Build partnerships with community organizations and local businesses
- Represent the school positively within the community
Qualifications
Required:
- MS/MA degree in educational administration
- Valid State of Iowa Principal/Administrator licensure or will to obtain by Jul 1, 2026
- Evaluators Endorsement
Preferred:
- Experience working with middle and high school grade levels
- Strong background in data-driven decision-making
- MS/HS teaching experience
- Experience with school improvement initiatives

Salary range form $95,000-$105,000 with solid benefit package.
