Position Overview:

Audrain County Prosecuting Attorney’s office is seeking a dedicated Investigator to join our team, committed to upholding integrity and ensuring the enforcement of laws and regulations. The Investigator will conduct thorough criminal investigations, gather and analyze evidence. The investigator must be eligible to be commissioned as an Audrain County Reserve Deputy Sheriff, with Peace Officer Standards & Training (P.O.S.T) and MULES certification. The investigator will review discovery and law enforcement reports, prepare and organize discovery materials, serve subpoenas, locate witnesses, and as needed, transport victims and witnesses, interview defense witnesses, and participate in trial preparation and logistics. The investigator will assist prosecutors in preparing witnesses and law enforcement officers for court appearances, and will serve as a liaison with law enforcement agencies.

Education and Experience:

· Required minimum of five (5) years of law enforcement experience.

· High School Diploma or GED required

· Preferred MULES certified

· Preferred experience with ProsecutorByKarpal case management system.

· Must possess a valid Missouri Driver’s License

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Reviews discovery and law enforcement reports.

· Prepare and organize discovery material

· Serve Subpoenas

· Locate witnesses as needed

· Transport victims and/or witnesses

· Conducting interviews of defense witnesses

· Participate in trial preparation

Knowledge:

· County and department policies and procedures.

· Missouri Juvenile, criminal and civil laws, court rulings and procedures.

· Establish precedents and sources of legal reference.

Skill In:

· Organizing materials and documents and accurately maintaining records.

· Developing and maintaining professional relationships.

· Communicating orally and in writing.

· Exercising judgement and discretion.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

· Ability to sit or stand for long periods, utilizing office equipment and computers.

· Ability to lift and move office supplies, materials and files on a daily basis and therefore must be capable of lifting at least 40 pounds unassisted.
