Registered Nurse School Nurse

Job Summary

Aucocisco School in Freeport, ME, is seeking a professional registered nurse who will oversee the health services of the school. This is a part - time contract position with a flexible schedule.

Aucocisco School is a small special purpose private school with up to 25 full time students a year. We have an extraordinary learning environment built for complex learners. We are a neurodivergent-affirming, trauma-informed school that values each student’s individuality while helping students build the academic, executive functioning, and self-advocacy skills they need for success.

Qualifications:

• Valid RN license with the State of Maine with experience in a school or pediatric setting preferred.
• Certified through the Maine Department of Education
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively with educators, families and other professionals

Responsibilities include:

• Onsite 4-5 times during the school year and consult remotely as needed
• Functions in accordance with the Standards of Professional School Nursing Practice,, Federal and State statutes that impact school nursing practice.
• Maintain accurate, confidential health records
• Provide medication training and oversight for unlicensed staff.
• Provides vision and hearing screenings to students
• Communicates essential health information to staff

Schedule:

• Flexible schedule with monthly retainer.

Education:

• BSN from an accredited college or university

Requirements:

• Valid State of Maine Nursing License
• Minimum 2 years experience as a registered nurse
• Certificate from the Maine Department of Education
• Maine Department of Education CHRC background
