What are the responsibilities and job description for the Preschool Bus Monitor - Auburn position at Auburn Elementary School?
Student Safety & Supervision
- Help children safely board and exit the bus
- Ensure all students are seated properly, often in assigned seats
- Monitor behavior to prevent unsafe actions (standing, fighting, etc.)
Support for Preschool-Age Children
- Provide extra assistance to very young children, including those with special needs
- Help students who may need guidance with following directions or routines
- Offer reassurance to children who may be anxious or upset
Communication
- Work closely with the bus driver to maintain a safe environment
- Report any behavioral issues, safety concerns, or incidents to school staff
- Communicate with teachers or parents when needed
Attendance & Accountability
- Keep track of which children are on the bus
- Ensure each child gets off at the correct stop and is released safely to an authorized adult
Emergency Preparedness
- Know emergency procedures (evacuations, accidents, medical issues)
- Help guide children during drills or real emergencies
- Use basic first aid (will be trained)
