Role Summary
As a DSP, you’ll provide direct daily living support, skill development, and community integration for participants. You'll assist in personal care, facilitate recreation, and document progress—all within a respect-driven, nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with personal care: hygiene, grooming, meals, medication reminders
- Support daily living skills: budgeting, meal prep, housekeeping
- Facilitate community access: appointments and recreational activities
- Encourage social, educational, and emotional growth
- Implement individualized plans and behavior supports
- Observe and document participant progress and any health or behavioral changes
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team (case managers, therapists, families, supervisors)
- Uphold safety standards and agency protocols
Required Qualifications
- ≥ 18 years old
- High school diploma or equivalent (some roles may require additional education)
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record (for community outings)
- Ability to pass background/criminal record checks
- Physical capability: lifting, kneeling, bending as needed
- Basic CPR/First Aid certification – must obtain within 30 days of hire (Attuf Group can provide)
- Strong communication, adaptability, and cultural sensitivity
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with IDD, mental health, or caregiving
- Postsecondary coursework or certification in human services
