Paraprofessional Special Education Inclusion
Brennan Middle School
Start date: August 25, 2026 (with orientation days prior)
General education and special education staff work collaboratively to ensure access to the general education curriculum. Services are delivered in a variety of models including: push-in, small group, 1:1, and pull-out emphasizing academic skill development including reading, mathematics, written language, expressive/receptive communication, problem-solving and organization.
Job Purpose
Under the direct supervision of certified staff members, assist professional staff with students in the classroom to meet academic and social emotional goals and objectives and implement positive behavioral supports.
Reports to: Building Principal and/or designee
Essential Job Functions
- Assist in classroom preparations and strategies for reinforcing academic, social emotional, and behavioral skills according to individual student needs.
- Assist with individual, class, and schoolwide positive behavioral supports to support a safe, learning environment.
- Work with students individually and in small groups.
- Assist professional staff in data collection: academic, behavioral, and adaptive skills
- Assist students in non-instructional areas, such as supervising the student lunch programs, bus transitions, passing time in corridor, and other related noninstructional areas.
- Accompany students on field trips for the purpose of assisting with supervision.
- Construct, copy and distribute, and use materials as needed.
- Assist teachers with parent contact as requested to foster effective and participatory parent involvement in student education.
- Participate in IEP process and serve as resource for the student evaluation team as needed.
- Follow all applicable safety rules, procedures and regulations governing the proper manner of assistance for all students.

- Effective writing and verbal communication skills.
Experience
- Prior experience working with students with disabilities with learning, communciation, and emotional needs preferred.
- Data collection experience preferred.
- Safety care or CPI training preferred.
Highly Qualified: 2 years college credits or equivalent or passing score of the ParaPro Test
Salary per Attleboro Paraprofessionals Association Collective Bargaining Agreement - Salary Range: $32,266 - $47,397
