Embedded Software Engineers, Syracuse, NY, $110-190K
Embedded Software Engineer sought for a rapidly growing deep-tech defence technology company developing advanced sensing and edge computing systems for mission-critical applications. This is an opportunity for an experienced embedded engineer to work on highly complex, real-time systems where performance, reliability and scalability are critical. You’ll be involved in designing software that processes large volumes of data, interfaces with hardware systems and operates in demanding environments. Working alongside a highly technical engineering team across software, systems, hardware and signal processing, you’ll contribute to the architecture, development and evolution of embedded software systems as the company continues to scale.
This is a role for someone who enjoys solving challenging engineering problems, working close to hardware and building robust systems from the ground up.
What you'll do
- Design and develop high-performance embedded software systems from concept through deployment
- Contribute to software architecture decisions across complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects
- Develop performant C and Python applications running on embedded Linux environments
- Build software that processes high-throughput data with a focus on reliability, performance and scalability
- Integrate software with new hardware components and collaborate closely with systems, digital and RF engineering teams
- Improve existing codebases, introduce best practices and contribute to long-term software development
- Support validation, verification and system-level testing of complex products
- Share technical knowledge and contribute to the growth of the wider engineering team
You'll likely have:
- Experience developing software for embedded or real-time systems
- Strong C and Python development experience
- Experience designing and building software for complex technical systems
- Hands-on experience with embedded Linux environments (Ubuntu, PetaLinux or similar)
- Experience working closely with hardware, systems or electrical engineering teams
- Ability to take ownership of technical challenges from initial concept through implementation
- Strong understanding of software design patterns, performance optimisation and scalable systems
Experience with radar, RF systems, communications, signal processing, sensor platforms or other data-intensive technologies would be highly beneficial.
Between 110-190K depending on experience plus benefits.
