What you will do in this role

In this role you will be responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating key supply chain planning functions, including supply planning, detailed production scheduling, and ensuring supply & demand alignment while meeting strategic and business-related inventory targets. You will be the key liaison between operations (including customer service) and the manufacturing plants. You will be responsible for facilitating the entire production execution process including general communication with manufacturers, production order submittal, and securing line-time and subsequent prioritization of the production plan. This position reports to the Senior Supply Chain Planner, Production & Materials.

Responsibilities

  • Builds inventory plans for assigned products and aggregates the data to facilitate supply discussions and ultimately generate supply plans
  • Facilitates the local manufacturing process via building a detailed production schedule that supports supply, inventory, and customer needs, while providing a schedule that is efficient and aligned with internal and third-party manufacturing capabilities
  • Supports the budget process via supply planning and detailed production planning, which culminates in a full-year supply and inventory plan, and fixed asset utilization schedule
  • Prepares a rolling 12-month production schedule and the required production orders and sends to manufacturers to secure line time and ensure alignment of priorities. Monitors schedule compliance during the campaign and communicates exceptions accordingly
  • Responsible for scheduling and facilitating the monthly active ingredient purchasing meeting while engaging commercial stakeholders and the sourcing group in purchasing decisions to meet budget, sales, and inventory level targets
  • Responsible for scheduling and facilitating the monthly pre-sales & operations planning meeting and follow-up for assigned products. This includes pre-meetings with commercial counterparts, running/revising planning reports, leading portions of monthly meetings, managing the completion of follow-up action items and publishing updated pre-S&OP reports to key stakeholders
  • Works collectively with internal groups to ensure all aspects of product supply are coordinated to enable on time delivery and ability to meet customer requirements. This requires coordination with commercial, sourcing, procurement, regulatory, customer service, and logistics
  • Maintains ongoing communications with sourcing to ensure proper coordination of purchases and timely execution of supply plans
  • Supports monthly inventory forecasting process with updates / information requests for assigned products – including status of purchases, inventory requirements and intercompany activity
  • Creates and maintains bill of materials in the ERP system to ensure CSF compliance, accurate costing, and accurate inventory posting
  • Ensures inventory is properly dispositioned as a result of end of campaign reconciliation, production of intermediate steps, and the production off-spec product, which includes transacting in the ERP system and communicating to the appropriate supply chain team members
  • Executes accurate and timely transactions (e.g., inventory adjustments, goods issues, etc.) to support true available to promise for supply communication and local manufacturing orchestration. This includes daily, monthly, and quarterly inventory and financial reconciliations required for business financial close, including issue resolution
  • Supports the operations and formulation development group with new product introductions including pilot trial to commercial production scale up
  • Develops and maintains production records and prepares management reports as required and/or requested
  • Responsible to drive process improvements as it relates to contract manufacturing relationships, production execution, and the production/consumption posting process and creation and maintenance of SOPs

Required Skills/Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in business, supply chain management, or a related field
  • Broad planning, master scheduling and ERP experience, preferably in chemical field
  • At least 5 years purchasing, production planning/scheduling or materials management experience
  • Comprehensive understanding of ERP system processes and key system functions related to demand planning, master scheduling and inventory management
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and proactive communication skills
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Ability to work effectively across diverse and cross-functional teams, under critical timelines and while balancing the needs of internal customers
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Strong initiative, problem solving and attention to detail
  • Excellent organization, planning, project management, time management and prioritization skills
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills
