The Participant Support Worker plays a key role in ensuring a safe, welcoming, and well-managed environment at the Community Reentry Center (CRC) by overseeing front desk operations. The Participant Support Worker plays a critical role in supporting the administrative functions of the Community Resource Center (CRC), ensuring efficient daily operations and seamless coordination of services. This position is responsible for managing data entry, maintaining clear and professional communication with participants, external partners, and subcontractors and assisting with scheduling and organizational tasks to enhance service delivery.  By engaging with participants in a trauma-informed manner, this role fosters trust, order, and accessibility, ensuring the CRC remains a secure and supportive space for individuals transitioning back into the community.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Front Desk and Participant Engagement
    1. Greet all participants and visitors upon arrival, fostering a welcoming and professional environment.
    2. Answer phone calls and respond to inquiries from participants, visitors, and staff in a courteous manner.
    3. Clearly explain security procedures to participants to reduce anxiety and ensure understanding.
    4. Maintain awareness of client movement within the facility and assist in directing participants to appropriate resources.
  2. Administrative Support
    1. Maintain accurate and up to date client records.
    2. Assist in preparing and distributing program materials, such as intake forms, schedules, and informational brochures.
    3. Respond to routine inquiries via phone or email, providing timely and professional communication.
    4. Manage office supplies and ensure the workspace is organized and well-stocked.
  3. Data Management and Reporting
    1. Enter data into the Program Data Collection System (PDCS) and other internal program databases.
    2. Generate reports for internal staff and external partners.
  4. Referral Coordination
    1. Assist in tracking client referrals to contracted service providers.
    2. Assist in monitoring follow ups to ensure clients receive the services they are assigned.
  5. General Support
    1. Assist with scheduling and providing logistical support for meetings, client appointments and contractor services.
  6. Trauma-Informed Approach and Conflict De-Escalation
    1. Utilize de-escalation techniques to manage conflicts or crises in a manner sensitive to participants’ past experiences.
    2. Maintain awareness of how trauma, mental health, or past justice involvement may influence participants' behavior.
    3. Provide calm and structured guidance to clients in distress or experiencing frustration while in the CRC.
  7. Administrative and Compliance Duties       
    1. Maintain accurate incident logs and complete security-related documentation in compliance with CRC policies.
    2. Assist in facility safety audits and contribute to continuous improvements in CRC security practices.
    3. Support visitor check-in procedures and ensure adherence to CRC facility policies.
Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong crisis management and conflict resolution skills, particularly when working with justice-involved populations.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in routine and emergency situations.
  • Attention to detail in monitoring facility operations, documenting incidents, and maintaining security protocols.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and basic administrative functions.
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed care and de-escalation techniques (or willingness to undergo related training).

Education & Work Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training in facility operations, security, public safety, criminal justice, social services, or a related field preferred.
  • At least two years of experience in facility security, public safety, corrections, or a related role required.
  • Experience in a social service, correctional, or community-based reentry setting preferred.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Regularly stand, walk, and move throughout the facility to conduct security rounds and monitor participant activity.
  • Frequently required to engage in active monitoring, including operating security equipment, observing surveillance footage, and responding to security concerns.
  • Occasionally required to lift and/or move objects up to 30 pounds, such as supplies or facility equipment.
  • Must have the ability to respond quickly and effectively in urgent or escalating situations.
  • The work environment involves moderate to high exposure to emotionally charged interactions, including potential conflict situations requiring de-escalation techniques.
  • The position is based in an indoor facility but may require occasional outdoor monitoring.
