What are the responsibilities and job description for the Weekday Evening Caregiver (Mon-Thurs, 4p-11p) position at Attendants for KC?
My name is Kate Chapple. I live in Northwest Austin with my husband and we both have a physical disability (Cerebral Palsy), but we live a regular, active life. We live in our home with 3 small dogs who are like our children. We have our own individual attendants but we live in an environment where everybody helps everybody with everything,
A little about me. I use a power wheelchair to get around. However I am able to stand and pivot, bare my own weight, for my transfers from my wheelchair to other places (couch, bed, etc.)
Kate's Job Description
The following duties but not limited limited to:
- Bathing
- Dressing
- Personal hygiene
- Oral care - My toothbrush has a 2 minute timer and I like a half of cap of mouthwash
- Transfering - I can bear my own weight with support so it is a stand pivot. I am working on my “stand by” transfers!
- Cooking. - meats must be processed with lots, lots, sauce, vegetable must be soft
- Feeding- It takes about an hour and a half to eat
- Transportation -I have my own wheelchair accessible minivan that my attendants drive me in to: running errands, shopping, movies, and road trips, etc.
- House cleaning -sweeping, mopping, washing and putting away dishes, wiping tables and counters, cleaning shower/tub
- Laundry- Separate clothes by color and whites, wash laundry and put away
- Pet care-feeding/water, bathing occasionally, take them for walks with me
- Translating - when I am speaking if someone doesn’t understand me, please support me by telling them what I said (if you understood me)
- Exercise- I have therapy twice a week (in the daytime), I need help with wrist/arm stretches
- Things I like to do for fun: shopping, going out to eat, playing with my fur babies, going to concerts, traveling, spending time with Dave/my husband
Basic computer knowledge desirable

Pay: $19.00 - $20.00 per hour
