What are the responsibilities and job description for the Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) – Per Diem position at Attain Physical Therapy?
Orange, CT | $53–$65/hour | W-2 or 1099 | Flexible Schedule | Growth Opportunity
Attain Physical Therapy is expanding in Connecticut, and we are looking for an exceptional Speech-Language Pathologist to join our established rehabilitation team at Maplewood at Orange.
This is an excellent opportunity for an SLP who wants the flexibility of a per diem position without sacrificing stability, clinical support, or the opportunity for professional growth.
Our PT and OT team is already established within the community, and we are now expanding the program to provide on-site Speech Therapy services.
Compensation
$53–$65/hour, based on employment structure and direct patient-care time
- W-2: $53/hour
- 1099 Independent Contractor: $65/hour
Flexible scheduling is available, with the opportunity to increase hours as the program grows.
Why Attain?
You aren't walking into an empty building.
Our PT and OT clinicians are already established at Maplewood at Orange. You'll have an interdisciplinary team in place from day one, along with internal referral opportunities and clinicians who understand the residents and community.
This is a stable partnership with room to grow.
Attain has partnered with this senior-living organization for approximately five years, and Orange represents our continued expansion together into a new market. We're not looking for someone to temporarily cover a caseload—we're building a Speech Therapy program that we expect to grow.
For the right clinician, there is opportunity to expand hours and potentially transition into a full-time role as our Connecticut market develops.
Clinician-Led. Clinically Focused.
Attain was built around a simple idea: excellent clinicians should have the support and autonomy to provide excellent care.
Our clinical leadership is not removed from patient care. Our leaders remain actively involved in clinical operations, mentorship, documentation, program development, and patient care.
That means you'll have tangible, accessible clinical leadership when you need it—not simply someone's name on an organizational chart.
We place a strong emphasis on:
- Quality of care over volume-driven therapy
- Evidence-based and individualized treatment
- Therapist autonomy and clinical judgment
- Meaningful functional outcomes
- Collaboration between PT, OT and SLP
- Strong documentation and Medicare compliance
- Mentorship and ongoing clinical support
- Direct access to clinical leadership
- Professional development and opportunities for advancement
- Building meaningful, long-term relationships with the residents and communities we serve
Whether you're an experienced SLP or someone looking for an environment with greater clinical support, you will not be practicing in isolation.
The Role
You'll evaluate and treat older adults within a senior-living setting with needs that may include:
- Dysphagia and swallowing disorders
- Cognitive-communication impairment
- Speech and language disorders
- Voice disorders
- Neurological conditions
- Functional communication and cognitive decline
- Patient, family and caregiver education
You'll collaborate directly with our on-site PT/OT team as well as nursing, physicians/providers, community leadership, residents and families.
What We're Looking For
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology
- Current or eligible Connecticut SLP license
- CCC-SLP preferred
- Geriatric experience preferred
- Experience with dysphagia, cognitive-communication and neurological diagnoses strongly valued
- Strong clinical reasoning and documentation skills
- Collaborative, patient-centered approach to care
Most importantly, we're looking for someone who takes pride in providing excellent therapy and wants to be part of building something.
