Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on heavy machinery, vehicles, and construction equipment, perform routine servicing tasks, and identify and repair wear and tear to avoid equipment failure.
- Diagnose mechanical problems with equipment, engines, hydraulics, or other systems, repair broken or faulty components, and troubleshoot electrical systems.
- Assist with assembling and disassembling large equipment, install new machinery and equipment, and set up equipment following safety protocols and operational guidelines.
- Maintain accurate service and repair records for all equipment, track maintenance schedules and document parts inventory reporting any shortages.
- Follow safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment, conduct regular safety checks on equipment, and report any potential safety hazards to the appropriate personnel.
- Assist in training operators on the proper use and basic maintenance of equipment and provide guidance on troubleshooting minor mechanical issues.
- 2 years of experience as, at minimum, an apprentice or junior mechanic working with construction equipment required.
- A strong understanding of mechanical systems, including engines, transmissions, hydraulics, electrical systems, and pneumatic systems.
- Ability to diagnose mechanical issues using specialized diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment problems and find effective solutions quickly to minimize downtime.
- Proficiency in reading technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints to understand equipment specifications and repair procedures.
- Ability to perform thorough inspections and ensure repairs are completed to safety standards.
- Capability to lift heavy objects, stand for long periods, and work in various weather conditions.
- Understanding of workplace safety standards and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
