Senior Component-Level Repair Specialist — Drives, PLCs & HMIs

Join ATS as a senior specialist in industrial electronics repair

Help us elevate uptime for customers by diagnosing and rebuilding complex control electronics at the component level. You’ll work independently, set testing standards, and guide peers while tackling challenging failures across motion, power, and control systems.

Your impact

• Repair and troubleshoot advanced assemblies and circuit boards used in: Drives (AC, DC, VFD, Servo), PLCs, power supplies, HMIs, laser scanners, AC/DC/servo motors, and other industrial electronics.
• Use advanced instrumentation daily: Huntron tracker, Multimeter, curve tracer, process calibrator, megger test, baker test, Hipot tester, chip reader, and related tools.
• Perform precise soldering/desoldering on through-hole and surface-mount devices.
• Contribute repair feedback to new product development teams.
• Communicate proactively with customers; travel on occasion to customer facilities.
• Design fixtures; conduct warranty evaluations and root-cause investigations.
• Refine standard operating procedures; implement cycle-time reductions and deliver year-over-year productivity increases.
• Define and improve testing methodologies and standards.
• Complete service documentation accurately and on time.
• Assist and provide direction to less experienced technicians when needed.
• Participate in Quality Initiative activities, complete quality core classes, apply Core Values, and follow all company and customer safety practices.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college/technical school and 10 years related experience/training; or 12 years of equivalent combined education and experience.
• Expert command of electronic components and their industrial uses.
• Advanced electronic and/or mechanical skill set.

• Read and interpret safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Author clear reports and correspondence; present effectively to customers and internal groups.
• Apply math in practical contexts: discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, volume; working knowledge of algebra and geometry.
• Work from written, verbal, or diagrammed instructions and solve problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical demands and conditions

• Regular: standing, walking, manual dexterity with hands/fingers, reaching, climbing/ascending/descending or balancing at heights (ladder or lift), stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling in confined spaces, talking, hearing; close and color vision.
• Occasional: sitting; lifting/moving more than 50 lbs; exposure to outdoor weather; risk of electrical shock.
• Environment: typically factory-based, usually very loud, with possible exposure to hazardous materials and greasy/slippery floors.
