What are the responsibilities and job description for the CNC and PLC Field Service Technologist position at ATS - Industrial Maintenance?
- Own mission‑critical uptime: diagnose, repair, and maintain advanced industrial systems.
- Build breadth: work across electrical, mechanical, and fluid power domains—including PLC‑driven machinery.
- Grow fast: on‑the‑job training and self‑study programs keep your skills on the cutting edge.
- Execute break/fix and preventative maintenance per industry standards with minimal direction.
- Observe equipment in operation to identify root causes; dismantle assemblies; adjust functional parts and control instruments; repair or replace defective components.
- Operate machining tools (lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking equipment) to fabricate/repair parts; perform welding as required.
- Work with customer counterparts to plan and carry out maintenance, reliability, and PM procedures.
- Document actions thoroughly in service reports and applicable management systems.
- Use industrial control systems to analyze complex problems and resolve equipment issues.
- Identify and source needed parts, supplies, and repair materials.
- Adhere to customer contractor codes of conduct, housekeeping standards, and all safety processes; maintain situational awareness to flag unsafe conditions and behaviors.
- High School Diploma/GED.
- Associate degree (technical focus) with 5 years related industry experience; or 7 years of industry experience.
- Proficiency with basic and specialized hand tools.
- Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and fluid power systems; able to analyze issues, propose alternatives, and complete repairs.
- Extensive travel required (Local, National, International).
- Experience with preventative maintenance techniques, precision measurement, mechanical alignments, and process equipment upkeep.

- Environment: typically loud factory settings; potential exposure to hazardous materials and greasy/slippery surfaces.

ATS believes in fair and equitable pay. Actual salaries may fall within, above, or below the range based on factors such as education, training, experience, professional achievements, business need, and location. Pay range: $33.42 – $42.75 USD.
