Internship Overview:
As an intern on the Metallurgy and Failure Analysis Team at ATS, you will have the opportunity to conduct analysis on materials using a variety of methodologies. The internship is going to include direct hands-on metallurgy and failure analysis testing to utilize your knowledge and gain great experience in the testing industry.
Schedule: M-F 8am to 5pm
Location: On-Site (Marietta)
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with other engineers and technicians to examine materials’ structures and properties using various techniques including optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and hardness testing to solve materials problems and to determine the cause of failures of different materials and components.
- Common tasks performed may include testing interpretation and report writing, consulting with internal customers to determine the type of analysis required, assisting with regular calibrations of lab equipment, and updating chemical and equipment inventories.
- Opportunity to learn and apply Metallurgy Testing procedures and methodologies, Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), Lab ISO, and safety procedures.

Requirements:
- Must be a Full-Time Student, ideally in a Metallurgy or Materials Engineering Bachelor’s program
- Will consider candidates in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical, Computer Science or Physics
- Interest in the Metallurgy and Materials Testing industry
- Strong Analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and safety procedures
