Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Activity Assistant to join our team in providing engaging and meaningful activities for residents in our senior care facility. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with older adults, including those with memory care needs, and will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for our residents. This position requires a proactive individual who is able to foster social interaction and promote physical and mental well-being through various activities.
Duties
- Plan, organize, and implement recreational and therapeutic activities tailored to the interests and abilities of residents.
- Assist residents in participating in activities, ensuring their safety and comfort throughout.
- Collaborate with other staff members to create a supportive environment that encourages socialization among residents.
- Document participation in activities and provide feedback on resident engagement and preferences.
- Support residents with daily living tasks as needed, including personal care and mobility assistance.
- Facilitate group discussions, games, arts and crafts, and other interactive sessions that promote cognitive stimulation.
- Maintain an organized schedule of activities and ensure all materials are prepared in advance.
Experience
- Previous experience in home community care, social work, or working with individuals with disabilities is preferred.
- Familiarity with memory care practices and long-term care environments is highly desirable.
- Experience in caregiving or senior care settings will be considered an asset.
- Knowledge of aging issues counseling or assisted living operations is beneficial.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff members.
- A compassionate approach to working with seniors, demonstrating patience and understanding of their unique needs.
