Responsible for the coordination, assessment and performance of routine, cardiac and invasive CT procedures and diagnostic and therapeutic interventional radiology procedures; the proper operation of all related imaging equipment/systems and image management. Essential Functions
- Carefully considers the needs of the patients when selecting and applying appropriate procedures, techniques, equipment and communications.
- Produces diagnostic quality images to include proper positioning, correct technical factors, collimation and patient identification which will be monitored by Radiologist complaints and through random QC audits.
- Patiently and clearly explains procedures to the patient prior to any exam, to reduce anxiety and enhance cooperation.
- Follows Radiation Protection Policies to avoid unnecessary exposure to the public and to self as evidenced by receiving no more than two-level II readings per year.
- Consistently performs accurate and complete quality assurance procedures in PACS prior to submitting the study to the Radiologist.
- Maintains a clean well-stocked and organized work area and notifies appropriate personnel when stock needs replenishing.
- Verifies the identity of the patient and ensures that the correct procedure is administered.
- Obtains a relevant history and/or examination data and evaluates for discrepancies and follows up with physician if necessary.
- Submits complete paperwork to Radiologist for interpretation which will be monitored by Radiologist's complaints.
- Consistently and accurately enters exam data information and charges in RIS and PACS by the completion of the shift
- Performs venipuncture and IV line access for the administration of IV contrast as needed per exam per hospital/department policy.
- Consistently checks Code 4 cart, emergency supplies, scanner check-ups to ensure readiness and safety according to departmental procedures.
- Transports patients as needed.
- Upholds a professional working relationship at all times and adheres to department rules.
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.
