About the Role:
Atria is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Medical Biller Manager to join our growing Finance team. This individual will be responsible for overseeing the billing and coding process, ensuring compliance, and managing the smooth operation of the billing department. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in medical billing and coding, as well as a deep understanding of insurance processes, claims management, and patient account reconciliation. In this role, you will be instrumental in optimizing billing operations and ensuring the efficient processing of medical claims to support the delivery of high-quality healthcare services.
Essential Job Duties:
- Billing and Coding Oversight: Ensure the accurate coding of medical procedures and diagnoses based on CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS standards. Review and approve claims submissions for reimbursement, ensuring compliance with payer-specific requirements and guidelines.
- Claims Management & Resolution: Oversee the submission, tracking, and follow-up of claims with insurance companies. Address rejected or unpaid claims, working closely with payers to resolve discrepancies and denials. Develop and implement strategies to reduce claim rejections and improve reimbursement processes.
- Payment Posting & Reconciliation: Manage the accurate posting of payments from insurance companies and patients into the billing system. Work with the accounting team to resolve discrepancies related to underpayments or overpayments, ensuring smooth account reconciliation.
- Patient Account Management: Oversee the management of patient accounts, ensuring that billing information is accurate and up-to-date. Handle escalated patient billing inquiries, providing clear and professional explanations of charges, insurance payments, and outstanding balances.
- Insurance Verification & Authorization: Ensure patient insurance coverage and eligibility are verified before services are provided. Manage the pre-certification and authorization processes, ensuring that services are covered under the patient’s insurance plan.
- Compliance & Documentation: Enforce compliance with all legal and regulatory billing procedures, including HIPAA and insurance regulations. Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of all billing activities, insurance correspondences, and claim statuses.
- Reporting & Strategic Analysis: Prepare regular billing reports for management, analyzing trends in claims denials, rejections, and payment delays. Provide actionable insights to improve revenue cycle operations and payment processes.
- Collaboration: Work closely with clinicians, administrative teams, and insurance providers to resolve billing issues. Partner with leadership on special billing projects, audits, and process improvements.
- Customer Service Excellence: Ensure the highest level of service to patients regarding billing inquiries, ensuring clear and respectful communication to maintain positive patient relations
Compensation:
$90,000 - $120,000
- 5 years of experience in medical billing and coding, preferably in a healthcare practice, concierge medicine experience is a plus
- Strong understanding of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding
- Expertise in claims management, payment posting, and insurance verification processes
- In-depth knowledge of HIPAA regulations and compliance requirements
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders
- Proficiency in medical billing software and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems
- Lead with an innovative mindset to identify areas for process improvement and implement strategic solutions
