What are the responsibilities and job description for the SMT Inspector position at ATR International?
The SMT QC (Inspector) reports directly to the Supervisor or designated lead and is responsible for the operation of the AOI system to monitor SMT quality and line yields. This includes running daily production, performing first article inspection, performing feeder inspection, quality data collection, and verifying compliance of SMT placements of the printed circuit assemblies with MPI, customer drawing requirements, and customer BOM based on IPC-A-610 standard. Additionally, may be asked to perform inspections in other areas to ensure product quality. The SMT QC may perform a variety of duties in accordance with their training, experience, and skills, including assisting other departments.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
· Inspect AOI Failed Boards to identify failure
· Assure all products meet the requirements of IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, customer specifications, and Industry specifications as required
· Performs both detail and assembly-level inspections with appropriate supporting documentation verifying actual results against drawing, MPI, ECOs, Deviations, and/or other specification requirements, including formal First Article Inspections and reports
· Stop line when certain rate of defects is observed and inform SMT-Operations to adjust machine or process to bring the yields back in control accordingly
· May confer with others regarding inspection results, recommend corrective procedures, and compile reports or results, recommendations, and needed repairs.
· Inspect components for proper feeder set up against the set-up sheet.
· Verifies installations and positions new or replacement parts, components, and instruments
· Review AOI failed boards, make a judgment for their acceptance or rejection. Scan rejected failed boards in the system with relevant information correctly.
· Place failed boards on designated carts and send them for repair.
· Maintain compliance with the ESD procedure and assist others in maintaining compliance
· Maintaining and assisting with the MRB Process
· Occasionally perform any other duties assigned including the receiving, in-process, and/or final QC inspections.
Qualifications Required/Job Specifications:
· High School Diploma or Equivalent required
· IPC 610 Certification is preferred.
· Have the ability to build a strong bond with coworkers to create an open and honest environment.
· Strong, effective organizational skills required; detail oriented; ability to multitask in a changing and/or fast paced environment
· Able to manage change in an organization and able to work under pressure.
· Able to create and maintain the highest levels of confidentiality when dealing with proprietary information and sensitive situations
· Flexible to work with demanding guidelines on different shifts to cover in case of emergencies, vacation, etc.
· Strong math skills, including metric and standard measuring systems
· Work well with other employees as a team
· Ability to use basic problem solving and deductive reasoning skills to solve common problems standard to the area of responsibility
